Some observations that came to mind while watching the first bit of North American NHL action:

Leafs @ Wings

* What better way to connect with the NHL's young, trendy fans than a popular music act of the day?

Crap...

God bless DVR

Three minutes of fast-forwarding and stifled one-armed drummer jokes later...

* The Wings know how to do a classy ceremony. Good stuff.

How do you feel if you're Marian Hossa watching this Wings banner go up after what he had to feel back in June?

Awwwkwardddd....

* Mike Babcock's face is simply rife with chin.

I am genuinely and equally afraid of that man and his chin.

* Tomas Kaberle looks like Brandon Dubinsky all growed up. Well, sort of growed up.

* Well, even if they're not going to be the deepest or most experienced team this year, the Leafs are certainly going to work for every inch of the ice. Dominic Moore was probably the best player for the Leafs up front tonight. I feel like he could be doing Blair Betts' job about two times better. He's got the defensive prowess, the ability to win faceoffs, much better speed and some good touch around the net. Somehow I feel Adam Hall wasn't really worth it.

Rangers open up tomorrow night at the Garden against the burgeoning Blackhawks. Should be a good one.

Uhh, maybe I'll actually post about those Premier games that happened last week sometime soon. Might be a good idea.
